Juniors (students age 7-14)
The Juniors program develops flexibility, physical development, positive competitiveness, self-esteem, attention to detail, goal setting and achievement.
Juniors classes are structured by belt level, allowing students to train with others at the same belt level. We also have classes that mix Adult students and Juniors which offer the Adults a faster-pace from the Adult-only classes, and offer the Juniors a stabilizing influence from the Adults. Some people refer to this as the “Family” class as parents can train with their children in the Juniors program.
Our Juniors program works on cooperation and leadership skills in addition to teaching the discipline and control of Taekwon-do. Intermediate students learn to spar and it is important that students learn a balance of self-defense and courtesy while keeping safety a priority. Advanced students with an aptitude and interest can learn teaching skills by assisting in classes under the guidance of adult instructors.
We have two air conditioned practice areas (do jangs), which means the Juniors and Mighty Lions classes can be run simultaneously. This works very well for many families who have children in both programs. Additionally, having two practice areas enables us to offer more classes each day, and to provide very specific programs for each age group.
All of our programs work on a rolling enrollment system, which means you can sign up at any time and start right away. Each beginner program includes a uniform (do bok) and patches so the new student has everything he or she needs to begin training right away.
The Juniors program includes unlimited classes per week. We are open six days a week, and offer each student at least two classes daily for their age and rank. We offer summer camps that are specifically designed for Juniors, and we participate in a summer camp that is open to Adults and Juniors.
