Korean Flag

The flag of South Korea has three parts: the white background, the Taegukgi, and the black trigrams. 

White is considered a color often used for traditional Korean Hanbok (clothing).  it also represents peace and purity. 

The red and blue yin and yang in the middle is called the Taeguk.  It represents the balance of the universe, with red representing the positive cosmic forces, and blue the negative.  In Asian philosophy these two elements are considered equally important and necessary while always in opposition to each other.

The black trigrams represent the four classic elements (heaven, sun, moon and earth), as well as the four directions (north, south, east and west), and the four seasons.
